Reading 10 - Doing

Hello and welcome to this week's reading task! This week we did our work during the lecture. We had to add an image either our own or someone else's to support our work. We also had to add an author's bio and an image.

I started off adding in my bio and my image, it felt strange writing about myself in the third person, I wasn't sure what to say at first but in the end, I came up with something and I hope it's okay! I also added a picture that seemed like the hardest task ever! I was trying to pick between the two I had and eventually went with the one that's up there now. I'm happy with how the bio and picture look, I think it represents me well.

Finally, I decided to find a supporting image for my work. I wasn't sure what I wanted, or what would work. I first decided to go through all the papers I read to see if they had any suitable imagery. None of them had any that I thought would suit my work. They were mostly very confusing statistics and graphs that had little to no relevance to my work. I was then thinking about making my own but I didn't even know where to start. I thought about it for a while and couldn't come up with anything so I turned to google. I found a very nice image on a website that I think was perfect for my work! You can see that image below.

That's all for this week, thanks for reading,

Tech Task - Week 22 (10)

Hello and for this week I decided to do a typing test! I did one of these last semester so it was interesting to see how it was different. I somehow managed to be slower but compared to a usual week this is the first week back after easter so I will put it down to that! I got 62 last time and I got 55 this time. It seems to be above average though so I will take it! This is the link to the website I used!

Reading 09 - Doing

Hello and welcome to my blog :)

Today I am talking about this week's reading task! We had to review two other students' work and make any corrections and suggestions. We also got feedback from other students too and change it according to the feedback! When writing this blog I had only received feedback from one person, so I will change my work accordingly when I receive the second person's feedback.

So from the feedback I got, it was mostly to change any grammatical errors! It included commas missing and 'a' missing in front of some words. There were some other smaller errors too. It also included some words that weren't right or maybe sentences that didn't make sense! I'm glad I got this feedback as I wouldn't be the best when it comes to grammar or spelling so it really helped!

I also had to change my H5P "Check your understanding" as I couldn't find the word search on either the .org or .com website! This was disappointing as I was excited to make a word search. In the end, I made a little fill-in-the-blank game! I hope it's helpful, obviously, it's not as fun as the word search would have been but it's something.

I went with these sentences below in the end!

Tech Task - Week 21 (09)

Hello, this is my blog post for my tech task for this week! I decided to make a Twitter list this week! I have used Twitter lists on my main Twitter only recently, I have one for the news (which is one I made for this account) and I have one to keep up with celebrities I follow! Here is a link to the list

A screenshot of my Twitter list.

I started by adding Richard Chambers and Zara King as I follow them and enjoy their posts/ news updates and then it suggest other people add and I added some of them!

Unity Tutorial 07 - Week 20

A screenshot of the final step in the unity tutorials.

This post is about this week's unity tutorial. We had to do two final tutorials, one was shorter than usual so that was a bonus! The first tutorial was all about audio. We started off by adding background music to the game, which in my opinion really make a game. Another thing I had to do in the tutorial was adding an audio source to ruby, I have done this before but for some reason, it didn't work for me and I couldn't figure it out. After about 20 minutes of me being very confused, I realized I had a bit of the code wrong (typical). So I fixed that and then it was clear sailing from thereon. Another thing I had to do was add a 3D sound to the robot, this sounds really cool and really adds to the game.

For the second tutorial it's all about making your game into an actual game! So in the tutorial, it shows you how to put all the correct settings on then to build the game which basically puts all the files together and means you can send them to people and they can play it! I had my brother try it out and he was impressed!

And that’s it, the unity tutorials are finished!! Not going to lie I am delighted! One thing that’ll be off my shoulders for the rest of the semester.

How Gaming is Now Helping People Discover New Music

Hello!! This post is about this week's reading task.  I really struggled with this week's task. In theory, it didn't seem hard but I've never written an introduction or a conclusion so I wasn't sure where to start. I watched the videos linked on the task website and honestly it definitely confused me more. I know we are getting feedback on them next week so I hope that will make it clearer and I can get solid feedback on them and figure out how I can improve and move forward.

We also had to draft a “Check your understanding”. I thought about this for a while and I think a word search would be really fun to do! I would include ten words.  The 10 words would be,

  1. Genre
  2. Games
  3. Preferences
  4. Groupings
  5. Personalities
  6. Shooter
  7. Simulation
  8. Platform
  9. Puzzle
  10. MMORPG
I think those words would be the most fun and they're all to do with my chapter! I will create this next week as this is a part of that task! Hopefully, I will get better at the introduction and the conclusion next week too and my chapter will come across a lot better than it does at the moment.

Thanks for reading, see you next time!

Twitter Task - Week 20

Hello and welcome to this week's Twitter
task! For this week I decided to embed my Twitter timeline into my sidebar on blogger. I had this done previously but due to me changing my blog layout/theme it didn't go into the new one so I thought it was the perfect time to update it :) Below is a screenshot of it.

Tech Task - Weather Widget

Hello! This post is about this week's tech task. I decided this week to embed the weather into my sidebar on my blog. I was going in between putting Dublin or Roscommon as the location but had to stick with Roscommon! Below is a screenshot of the weather embedded into my sidebar!

Tutorial 06 - Week 19(07)

Unity Real-Time Development Platform | 3D, 2D VR & AR Engine
The photo is of the unity logo source.

This post is about this week's unity tutorial. In the two tutorials, we had to do the first one we added in UI or Heads up display which displays the health bar. It was a very cute little UI display with a photo of the character Ruby in it. It was really interesting to see this come to life. Though in the middle of doing this tutorial unity just stopped responding so I had to quit it in the end and start from scratch. That was very annoying but thankfully I wasn't too far into it, definitely would've been a lot worse if I had gotten further or was even finished and it stopped!

In the second tutorial, we had to add another character called Jambi. We had to add a dialogue box to Jambi too in order for him to "talk" to Ruby! I just added in the text "Hey! Help me fix all the broken robots" like it said in the tutorial. I was surprised at how this worked easily enough for me and everything seemed to go fine! It's also a cool addition to make the game more interactive.

I think it'll be interesting to see what the last two tutorials are like and what the game finishes like! Hopefully, they'll be easy enough.

Anyways, thanks for reading!

Gaming Week: a Virtual Celebration of Gamers
Photo of gaming set up for PC source

This week's reading task was to read two other students' paragraphs that were completed last week! We had to then give feedback on their paragraphs! I found this hard as I really didn't know what to correct people on or suggest! But hopefully the feedback I gave helped (I am sorry if it did not).

In terms of the feedback I got, both of the bits of feedback I received were similar so which does help me a lot. The first bit was to take out the start of one sentence where I said "Papers I have read suggest" and honestly I'm not sure why I even put that in because I know you shouldn't use I in them but look we all make mistakes. So I took that out and changed it to "Different papers suggest". I hope that works better and makes more sense. Similar to that I was told to remove any she/he written in the paper as it was confusing so I also removed them.

Another bit of feedback I got was to stick to the 5 sentence feedback structure. I used the 5 sentence structure while writing them, looking over them now I do have more than 5 sentences in most paragraphs but I did follow the structure but instead of say 1 sentence of meat I did 2 or 3 depending on the paragraph.

Other than the changes I made, I am happy with my paragraphs and hope they come across well.
